Try JAS 2.0! Much faster and more user friendly!

The new JAS application is now available at jocavi.net/JAS

The history behind JAS

It all started in January 2009 when we decided to create a room acoustic simulator that both we and our customers could benefit from in order to provide a more standardized and better looking acoustic analysis report.

At the time all of the tools available were quite academic, rudimental and didn't have much choice between materials. The materials libraries were quite slim and the interfaces were quite crude.

We then decided to create something that we could support in the future and that would create an appealing report that we and our partners could use to present our solutions.

Since then, JAS hasn't had many updates done to it. Along the times we've changed a few things here and a few things there, but nothing major that would call for a real change of version. Until now.

The all new JAS 2.0

Now available at jocavi.net/JAS

Now, almost 11 years later, it was time to take a fresh look at JAS and overhaul the whole user interface that has been in place almost since the beginning.

"...the new JAS is much more intuitive and versatile. I can calculate the acoustics for any shape volume without any complications. And being able to see the live changes to the results while adding materials gives me a greater sense of the impact of each of them in space. No doubt it was much more user-friendly and faster..."

Marisa Jesus - Head of Technical Department

Live changes
The first thing you'll notice is that you'll now see the reverberation times chart right next to the input form.

This means that, as and when you change the materials in the room, you'll be able to see the chart update, live, as simple as that. Easy and simple, without delays.

Material absorption coefficients
What you'll also see is that as you change materials, you'll be able to see their acoustic properties on the fly, without having to have the page refreshed.

This means that, as and when you want choose the materials, you can cycle through the multiple options and see their acoustic properties before comitting to using them.

Before and after
One other thing you'll notice, amongst others, is that now you have the ability to describe two states for the same room, instead of relying on JAS to replace the panels for existing materials.
This makes the simulation much more trustworthy as there are no possible errors arrising from the assumption of which panel replaced which material.

Compatibility
This new version of JAS is not compatible with other projects you might have created with the original JAS application. The file format is quite different and neither application will be able to interpret the other version files.

That being the case, we've left a copy of the initial JAS program available for older projects at jocavi.net/JAS.OLD/.

If at any time y ou need help to migrate the old files to the new program, just send us an email with the old file attached and we'll take care of it for you.

Give us your feedback
We'll really appreciate if you have a gander through and let us know what you've thought of this new version of JAS. We want to make sure it works well for you and for your projects, so don't hesitate to email us at info@jocavi.net

Analysis features

In the report generated by this tool you'll find several sections that will be very useful to understand how the acoustics will change within an room. You can find a sample report here.

The reverberation times chart

This chart will show you, immediately, the difference in reverberation times before and after the treatment.

It'll also include a couple of lines that represent the ideal minimum and maximum reverberation times for the treated room.

The treatment ratios times chart

In this chart you'll be able see the percentage of treated surface areas, split by product category, as well as the percentage of treated and untreated surface area.

Right next to the chart you'll find the calculated overall reverberation percentage, the calculated RT average, the SPL noise reduction before and after the acoustic treament and the balance between the reverberation times over the reference frequencies.

The room modes

We display the room modes in several ways. the first one being in the shape of a keyboard where you can easily identify the frequencies present in the room modes analysis.

You'll also be able to find the Shröeder frequency for that room which will tell you at which point diffusion products will start being effective.

After that useful display, we'll also show you, for all the room modes (width, length and height axis as well as tangential) some visual representation of the intensity of the fundamental, 1st harmonic and 2nd harmonic sound waves within your room.

This will very easily help you find the acoustic sweetspot within your room.

You can find a sample report here.

Also, if you do find any difficulty at all using this tool, please don't hesitate to write to info@jocavi.net or call.

JOCAVI has launched, on its 26th anniversary, its brand new web radio, JOCAVI Radio.

Celebrating 26 years of an intense bond with the international music market, we are honoured to commemorate it and share an excellent music selection with our clients and friends.

João Vieira's private collection was scanned with the original CD file format (WAVE at 44.1kHz, 16bit per channel) and to ensure the best listening quality, it is being broadcast using HE-AAC at 192kbps at 48kHz.

It is now available, 24/7 at jocaviradio.com
